Happy 20th Anniversary, Ghost in the Shell

The theme of the dangers of technology has existed since Mary Shelly's Frankenstein and the rise of the factory during the Industrial Revolution.
In film, the postmodern era occurred around the time when the Japanese economy boomed during the 80s, and Blade Runner came out. The dangers of technology were prevalent, such as human looking robots. What is a statue or a picture of a human even? Is that not considered the same? (I believe I read somewhere that humans were confused at first when this happened.
What if a statue like a tree had a brain? Trees have bodies and cells.
What is the brain and memory really? Maybe this was a commentary on US fears of the Japanese economy during the Reagan era? The allegory of the cave is present here and the world that you experience is your world.
The Major is a model, both in terms of item type, such as car models, and feminine representation, such as car models!
What is human?
And of course, Japan is beautiful thanks to Mamoru Oshii.

How do you describe LBX?

LBX uses Yugioh's art style similar to . It's not a dark shock factor anime like that was, but is more of a thriller with Kubrickian relevations.
Naive kid characters that don't know a world of war they're in.
Cool characters working for the government, Actually a bit sinister than they're
Then again, they actually participate unlike the likely viewer.
It's sort of like Neon Genesis Evangelion except more kid friendly.
It's a Transformers-ish war, with Gundam toy model product placements being treated as Pokemon. Maybe even beneath as they're never really truly treated like characters. And should they be? Is it no different than naming your gun?
Also, they're crazy (bio and) weapons being developed behind the scenes.

It's not a really heavy show, but the little details are really appreciable. Great voice acting, a heck of a creator, and good production all around.
It's unique and should be given a look.

Digimon Fusion "Mikey the Light Warrior" and "Showdown in the Sand Zone" etc arc

This is really good.
Reapmon was a really good star for this arc, defeating a nostalgic, powerful in multiple ways warrior such as Angemon. Defeated, losing hope, losing a friend, losing an ally.

Is Angemon resurrrected? Can you kill an angel? Is he like a Pokemon where there are so many in his species? (In the court episode, YES HE IS!)

A war in the sand in contemporary times.
References to the original Digimon storyline.

My brother's reactions to Samurai Flamenco 15-19

Episode 15:
Wow? His brother committed suicide? Wow! What a deep show!

Holy Watchmen, Batman!

JUSTICE BEAM!

Episode 16:
Ah! He took the bread!
We also get MMM development. What a crazy show.
Wow? King Torture did all that. Man, I wasn't paying attention. What a great show that can provide such great moments for the characters.

Ultimate Prime Minister, said in Japanese accent.

Episode 17:
Wow! A Prime Minister who's powers is to use Public Ratings to defeat enemies.

  • Kamikaze.
  • Diet.
  • Divine Wind.
Holy shit. That's messed up!

When did Goto become a Superhero? Samurai Policeman?

Episode 18:
Wow! That was everything that reminds me of what I love about anime.
Samurai Flamenco as a TV show.
Philosophical implications about life.
That's art there.

Episode 19:
Goto! Damnit! How could you have such a terrible life?!
Who the heck is the dude in the end?

My brother's reactions to Samurai Flamenco 12-14 with an actual Quentin Tarantino impersonation.

Episode 12: Where are the great plot twists you were talking about the whole time?!
I see now!
You watch it as one of those crazed Super Sentai fans! Toku and all that!

I can't help not watch the Flamengers fight though.

Still waiting for the plot twists.

Episode 13:
Who cares about the Prime Minister thinking about the leaders before the civilians?
I want a motherfucking plot twist, motherfucker!
That was the whole point of Episode 7 after all wasn't it? Preventing the show from being stale and conform?

In his best Quentin Tarantino impersonation.
It needs more, uh. Guillotine Gorilla...
GUILLOTINE GORILLA?!
Guillotine Gorilla...
You can't write a good plot twist without a, Guillotine Gorilla
GUILLOTINE GORILLA?!
I said, Guillotine Gorilla once. I wont' say it again.
Ok. I'll say it again, Guillotine Gorilla.
Do I have to repeat myself again motherfucker?
Guillotine Gorilla, motherfucker! Guillotine Gorilla!

Episode 14: Holy shit! The television characters were all actually real superheroes the whole time?!
Red Axe?! I remember him!
Holy shit that ending!

I have to stop playing card games for this now!

My brother's reactions to Samurai Flamenco Episodes 1-11

Episode 1: This is just Power Rangers.
Yet serious considering how they took a Kick-Ass/Super approach to superheroes.
Holy shit!
He got beat up by a bunch of kids?

Episode 4:
Flamenco Girl is a little stupid.

Episode 6:
Unlike what my brother thinks, hentai means more than just anime pornography!

Epiosde 7-11:
GUILLOTINE GORILLA?!

WTF is this bullshit. This was supposed to be serious Power Rangers!
Maybe it's an artificial world created by Samurai Flamenco.
The police officer's head fell off!

King Torture is a nice parallel to

FLAMENGERS?!
I'm done!
I hate this series!
I'm out!

I hate my Yugioh memories (Season 4 revisit)

Yu-gi-oh's premise was never really that good.
Sure, it was pleasing to see the most epic card matches ever in the card game, WHENEVER THEY FOLLOWED THE RULES,) which was never!
However, the show seemed to be in the hands of evil corporations and bad parenting. It's quite a pop culture icon for whatever reason. Iconic and recognizable at every anime convention, even losing it's anime tag status.
It was "dark" for a teen show, comical for an adult show, like watching a Saw movie that wasn't the first two films. There was probably something not right with me or society at the time, when I thought of the appeal of the original Japanese show for having real severed limbs sacrificed during this card game.  (I'll get to the perceptions of Egyptians and cults later on in the show.)

Noah ark. I didn't buy them as brothers, at least brothers that liked each other and it really made the arc seem to waste a lot of time.
It seemed to break the fanfiction rule of long lost family member that was established when I was writing in Antagonist Inc's AOL forum Final Fiction

Yugioh had a more in depth card game than Pokemon Trading Card Game.

Yasuko Kobayashi
Kamen Rider OOO

The seal of Orichalcos was actually underrated by me thanks to the horrible dubbing and editing by 4Kids.
Pegasus' reveal is apeshit insane to the point of Jojo's Bizarre Adventure comedy.
And Kaiba's such a motherfucking asshole. He's written so wooden, showing no changes in personality, no matter what happens to anybody besides his kinky incest brother that he makes Pinocchio look like he's crying Mt. Everest here.
Yami Mai is way underwhelming.
The loss of non-Yami Yugi should've had a better impact considering the heart he meant in the series.
And pretty much everything gets ruined by Bicycles.
If this was Kamen Rider, 4Kids would've ruined it because of the very bikes that have made the show iconic.
Seal and magic cards.
Hell, isn't the reason the reason everybody loves Yu-gi-oh, because it pisses off the right wing? Egyptians, the Middle East, religion, magic, violent films, the bad hentai fanfiction ships?
There are a lot of Kamen Rider fans that complain about Kamen Rider Wizard having nothing in the plot, but it accomplishes its goal of selling toys and being respectable and unique while doing so.
On Track IV: Weaknesses and power having nothing to do with, what Mai said in the flashback.
